Ron Mueck stacks 100 giant skulls into an art gallery

Inspired by the bones of the catacombs of Paris

The famous Australian artist Ron Mueck, a specialist in hyperrealism, has just installed 100 giant skulls in an art gallery. Soberly entitled Mass, this in-situ artwork is presented as part of the National Gallery of Victoria Triennial, inaugurated in Melbourne a few days ago. With this monumental and immersive installation inspired by the bones of the catacombs of ParisRon Mueck questions our identity and our impermanence, but also the notion of eternity present in all cultures and religions.
